FS7: How do you organize your FS7 footage?

So, i have previously used VLC as a windows prores player to watch footage and place them into subsequent folders to rough sort smaller projects. But with the new XAVC i cannot have VLC installed due to codec issues, and Windows does not display XAVC thumbnails, so i have no clue what is what inside mye footage files.

I have searched for a program that in essence is Windows Explorer (or Apple Finder), but to no avail.

All these Sony programs seems really good, but none is drag and drop easy sorting. Actually, i have yet to discover any moving function at all. One of them can copy, but thats twice the workload, and its really cumbersome.

Prelude does not seem to be a good option either, and Bridge really is old. I have installed and will test, but... Its left for dead so in a few years it will be gone. (I tested it now and it does exactly what i wanted. Why is it left for dead as a "previous" app?)

Whats your workflow for sorting files on the actual harddrive before backing it up on a NAS or external HDDs?

Well, my first step is to use the clip name feature in camera, so that my file names match the project.

For import - Catalyst Browse or Content Browser.

I copy the whole card.

My_Stuff/2015_07_12_MyProject/FS7_1/XDRoot..
My_Stuff/2015_07_12_MyProject/GoPro1/DCIM..

etc.

To view I throw into Resolve (hey LUTs!)

To log I use google sheets

Shotput pro best way to down load/copy IMHO... view in content browser.. some companies are insisting on a download log for insurance purposes.. SPP will do this for you.. automatically into the card folder.. or anywhere else you want it.. and also keeps a copy of it till you want to delete it.. and best of all.. send s you an email when its finished down loading !

This will also cover your own arse if any thing goes weird after you have handed over drives.. cos they will blame you for sure .. had that happens a few times when the editors cant open MXF files or other such idiocy ..

Same questions for me.
XML based files should be easy to work with for filemanagement (a program like Itunes or Calibre for sony media would be so nice).

I tend to catalyst prepare.
