How do you name the clips?

Okay, so I've read through the manual a couple of times, and it says that you can individually name the clips, but I don't see any explanation. How does this work? I spent a good portion of the night going through all the menus, but with no luck. Anyone got any ideas? I'm hoping the I can program a scene #, then the camera will advance the take number automatically every time I start to record again. Is this possible? If not how does the hvx label the clips when FCP imports them? I'm totally confused...:huh:
 
I've been trying to do the same thing. You can mark them in vcr mode by having a user button set as marker and then highlighting it and hitting the user button. I wish I could figure this out as well.
 
You can assign an individual clip name in the metadata. You don't rename the clips themselves. Go into the P2 Viewer program and you'll see that it lets you edit the metadata fields; that's where you would assign the clip name.
 
What does the Clip Name that the camera generates even mean?

If you load the metadata via SD card, will it be the same for every clip? How does this help identify clips if they all have the same name?
