How do you insert P2 cards into the HPX170?

Seriously-- I dont understand what this manual means when it says "push the P2 card eject button towards the arrow." What arrow? And whichever way I push it, it still has that red "no P2" icon when I turn the camera on. Am I just not pushing hard enough?

(while I'm at it, when inserting the cards into a Powerbook G4, is it supposed to go in all the way?)

thanks

yeah, the card will gently pop into place. it takes a little force. but dont worry, ive never heard of anyone breaking a P2 card or slot.
just to be sure. you are inserting it gold connector in and logo up right? and be sure to remove the black rubber cap...

to eject, you have to sort of lift the eject button up (well, toward the left/back of the camera actually) from the outside right edge. then push it down into the camera to eject it.

and yes again. a P2 card will fit all the way flush with the edge of a powerbook G4. once its in you have to push the eject button in slightly (you'll hear it click) to make it pop out to eject status. BE SURE TO DRAG YOUR CARD TO THE TRASH or CLICK THE EJECT ICON - AND IT DISAPPEARS FROM THE DESKTOP, BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY REMOVE IT FROM THE COMPUTER.

Thanks for the reply...
So, I push it in, and then I turn the eject button to the right? It looks it could just pop off... When I turn it to the right, is it supposed to click into place, or just kinda hang there?

thanks

So its supposed to go all the way into the powerbook too? Mine doesnt, even if I push. I'm inserting it the way you said - logo up, gold in, no cap.

i did neglect to close the slot cover once the card was inserted. its doesnt matter as far as shooting goes. but in the interest of keeping debris out of the slots, i would keep the cover closed at all times unless you are accessing a card.

every powerbook ive ever used inserts to a flush position. maybe your specific model has a shallower slot. dunno. just push with reasonable force until it wont go any farther.

have you downloaded the P2 drivers to your powerbook?

each video may take a min or two to load so be patient
please do post when youve seen the videos so i can pull them off my server

cheers!

Issac - get the card the right way up slide in carefully and with your thumb press it home so it is flush with the housing.

The eject button doesn't turn at all - hope that was just your way of describing it or you'll have broken it by now. The eject button just flips and lies down flat when not in use by pushing it gently to the right. It is hinged.
