My brother lived on top of Sutter's until last summer. That place used to be a revolving door for college kids. Well he went to school late, roomied there, then eventually was the last one and just stayed and stayed. I actually liked that place. It was convenient to visit him which was right on top of the bar like in CHEERS.

Why did I click on this when I'm hungry and I'm having pasta. Those pics made me want to just go down to the French restaurant instead now.

Sutter's in Syracuse, New York? On M-street right next to the SU campus...?

Nah, close though. Sorta.

Sutter's is in Albany, right across the street from the SUNY ALBANY campus on Western Ave.

PS I want to know who that one guy (or girl) is who likes their steak burnt. Was that a joke? For real? If for real, please show yourself. Explain it. Come out, come out wherever you are....I need you to make sense of it....

Hell yeah, Rick, Max, everyone is invited. Enjoying friends and having good food and relaxed, easy times is the motto around here.

I prefer it medium rare or rare. It needs to have the juice in it. I can eat it any way actually but anything other than medium rare or rare is just a travesty.

no steak since 4 years ? or was it 8 years ? not missing it....
Wow, I could never do that. Steak pretty much is my diet. Meat in general. I have it in so form or another 5 to 6 times a week. Health wise I am doing quite well so it hasn't had that effect on me. Can't live with out it.

I may not have steak more than once a month sometimes, but my diet is based around some dead animal or another. I get to have Lamb even less than steak, and I just got some nice chops at the store today. That's the good news. The bad news is, I'll be using them in a stew. Oh well, it's still lamb.

I like to watch the FoodNetwork and you see lamb chops being made a lot. You know, the look of them always blow me away. They look incredibly delicious. But, I've never had them. Ever. I've heard from a couple of people that they can be gamey so I have steered clear, pardon the pun. Is this true?

It's a unique taste, but I wouldn't say it was gamey. I love it, but it is a bit too strong for an everyday type thing. You should try it roasted as a first timer, that will blow you away.

Being Middle Eastern I eat lamb quite a bit. It has a very good taste to it but it must be cooked all the way through. Lamb shoud be very tender when it is fully cooked through. Occasionally baby lamb chops can be had medium but not really rare. Rare lamb just doesn't work for me and I think most people would agree. It's not like steak.

Also, the best lamb you can get is from the middle east or Australia. The breed of lamb they use (lamb with a slighlty longer tail) has a much better flavor and is more tender than the breed of lamb popular here in the US. You have to look for it but you can find that breed here in the US but it is more expensive.

As for taste, steak blows away lamb but it's still pretty good.

Apples and Oranges buddy. It's all a matter of personal tastes and opinion, but the two are really completely different, like Duck and Chicken. Being Middle Eastern, many dishes feature Lamb, so I can see how you might be overly accustomed to it. Where do you live, and how often do you eat steak? Just a little curiosity on my part, about geographical customs and tastes.

I pan sear it via the Alton Brown method. Ever since I've done it this way, the wife only wants steak done this way.

Yeah, it is a personal taste. I just prefer the flavor of steak. As for where I live, Allentown PA.

I pretty much eat lamb on any major family gathering so to me it tends to be a standard thing. Just prefer steak to lamb. Though that does not mean that lamb is not good. If I am overseas in the Middle East then I have lamb as their lamb overthere blows away the steak.

Lamb burgers are tasty. Usually mixed with ground beef; had one yesterday for lunch at Alcove.

Mmm. Little baby sheeps.

Did you grow up in Pa, or overseas? I don't think steak is as common there as it is here. That might explain a lot. For me, Lamb was always a rare treat, someting I only got once in a long while. Now that I'm older, I get it every chance i can. Like yesterday, we were shopping, and planning on St. Patrick's Day. The wife was looking forward to Corned beef and Cabbage, and I like that just fine, but usually make Lamb stew. So I got some chops, and threw them into the crock pot today. Most of them. I just pan seared a small chop and had it with mint jelly for lunch :)

dude if youre gonna eat lamb you gotta do it the turkish/azerbaijani/khazak way.

whole lamb roasted over a huge pit of hot coals. you rub it down wth spices then cook. un friggin believable.
