how do you down-grade resolution?? DVX100b "thin" mode...flicker on SD b/c high res

I heard that you would get a flickering artifact when you play footage shot on "Thin" mode on the DVX. I shot on "thin" mode because it gives the most resolution and the project I shot "might" play on the movie theatres and I heard thick mode isn't good for projection on a huge screen like that. So I shot thin, and I heard that I can always downgrade the resolution in post. But my question is how do I do that? And what exactly do I need to do? What resolution do I need to set it at to play the best on an SD tv screen broadcast (and how do I even downgrade the resolution?). I edit on an Avid.

Thanks!

I shoot thin on my dvx and edit on Avid you shouldn't have a problem at all. I watched one of my flims on a giant projection screen in a theater (not 35mm) and it looked great. Also I doubt you would want to downconvert the DVX it is already DV resolution.

I think you'd actually want THIN for projection like that. It will give you headaches sometimes when it's for TV broadcast though. Shouldn't be a problem projected.

Hi, yeah I am shooting Thin because it's good for theatre and large screen projection, i know that.

But Thin mode is said to be bad for broadcasting in TV. And I will for sure need to broadcast this on TV. But "maybe" also on theatres too. So, what I heard is to shoot Thin and save a thin version of the final cut, and then have another version where you downgrade the resolution so it will be suitable for broadcast.

Anyone know how to downgrade the res for broadcast on TV?
