Can somebody please enlighten me on how this is done?

here's a video to give you a visual example of what I'm talking about.

I'm working on a video that is an experimental piece, and I would love to utilize this effect by having multiple scenes in one frame just like in the video but just don't know how? I'm posting this in Premiere Pro, but I also own Sony Vegas, and Adobe After Effects, so if this is done somehow in those programs I'm all ears.

Any help?

Thanks!

hopefully, you don't want to do something so excessively.

you can go about this in many ways.

things to know:

there is something called masks that is something to block a piece of the video.
there is something called blending mode something that can be used to show a part of the screen while blocking another part or element or mix elements.(screen and darken can be used on black and white)

there is also a way to do this if your familiar with masks and blending mode in photoshop by making images that can be used as masks and frames or templates or blenders for the video.

you can either use one mask per video track or one mask for all the tracks under it

Just thought I woud add that you can use the titling tool of Premiere Pro to make masks and track mattes.

I conducted an interview with Tracey Fragments director Bruce McDonald on the film and used the multi-frame effect to jazz up the final product. I created everything within Premiere. I think at the time it was CS3 I was using. It should be much easier to do today with CS5.

You can view the video here:

I put each frame on a different video track, then scaled and re-positioned each to create the big picture. In some cases I used the 'Crop' plug-in to trim the sides of each image.

dang its amazing how simple some things are to do when you just ask someone..lol,I have been semi searching for a good method to incorporate the cartoon panels into a video that i shot as well, great help on the topic guys!

I could easily tell it looked like cropped PiPs. You could use masks and mattes if you want to but they are not needed.
