How do you calibrate your Marshall monitor for use with a 7D DSLR?

A couple of questions for ya'll. I have a Marshall monitor but I don't have access to bars to reference for the calibration of the monitor for use with my 7D.

Any ideas how to correctly calibrate the monitor, so I'm getting a relatively accurate representation of color and exposure? Or if bars are essential for reference, how would I go about using them with the Marshall/7D?

And to any Marshall / 7D owners, what do you have your Bright, Color & Contrast settings on, for your Marshall monitor?

Thanks.

Everything is actually set *at the factory* to 50 percent and that, in my experience is very close.

You can also load a jpg of smpte bars onto your cf card and play it back in the camera.

With regards to exposure false colours in Marshall monitors takes care of that. Usually auto white balance in the Canon cameras is spot on. At least as close as it can be. Sometimes you want another colour cast and in these cases you have to trust a monitor that what you see is what you end up with.

Whenever I'm in doubt I check the image on the cameras LCD screen to be sure. Marshall monitor has different colour settings like D6500 but I find natural to be most true to what is captured. Albeit not how it will look on a D6500 calibrated monitor or an other calibration.

Levels and colours do differ so much between computer screens and TV-sets and you have to end up somewhere in the middle ground where levels and colours are safe.
