How do they do that?

Everyone has a different favorite for rotoscoping, I personally love After Effects. That being said, I've got two friends who could probably pull off something close to that in Shake. Each to his own. As to how, I don't know the exact methodology used for this spot, but if I were to guess, this is what I would say:

1. The shot where the "lined book" flies out of the real book, the basic shot is a slow pan, so that instantly tells me they motion tracked some element in the shot, and then mapped the "lined book" animation to the live action footage.

2. The "lined violin player" segment was probably done something like this:
The shot is locked off static. So they probably shot it twice, once with the room full of people, and once with nobody in the room at all. They then went in and cut around the one person that the "lined player" is standing behind and merged the two shots.

3. Most of the other stuff is simply making the "lined" animations and just dropping them in place. Fairly simple stuff.

Hope that helps.
