How do record your sound on your 5D

There seem to be a lot of options. Considering coming over from the HVX200 but slightly worried about capturing audio.

From what I have gleaned on the forums the Zoom H4n remote recorder is a favorite:

Here's a link on how to use one with a DSLR

In the more convetional, direct-to-the-cameara, there are always the Rode mic's or Azden SMX-10. Both can fit on the camera's hot shoe, or can be mounted remotely. For the Azden you'll probably need an isolation mount. Rode SM3 - On-Camera Shockmount for Shotgun Microphones

So far, I'm having good results with the Juiced Link preamp/mixer. Plus, it makes a swell radio if you're in the mood for some classic rock :cheesy:

.

We're using the Zoom H4N with the Z-shoe from Zacuto and
the Rode NTG3 (in addition to the built-in mics from the H4N).

The H4N can do 4 channels of audio (on-board plus two other
inputs).

The only big bummer is lack of timecode sync (even SMPTE
LTC would be nice).

But . the H4N sounds good . and with a boom and shotgun, it's
a good solution.

ps: doing phantom to the NTG3 shotgun eats up the batteries
in the H4N pretty quick...

We use 2 x Sennheiser EW100's, and a NTG1 on a boom. Would all these work well with the Zoom H4N?

Is there any danger as the batteries die the sound quality decreases?

Just a note from experience , the first generation Juicedlink CX211 has an issue with the tripod mount when you use the 1/4 20 mounting thread it pushes up the circuit board causing the power supply not to work.. They have responded to this and have fixed the issue, i just got the new one as far as i can tell using it with the DN1O1, (a funky design for battery power patching the 9 v but it works) is it does indeed bypass the AGC effectively, no hiss, clean sound, i used it with a wireless G2 sennheiser. No additional syncing needed
Cheers mate!

I've been using a JuicedLink for a while now. I absolutely love the thing. It really all comes down to workflow. Most of the time, we're honestly the In-N-Out Burger of video. Fast, Quality, Affordable. It's a great burger, but it's still a burger.

We were recording audio separately and syncing in post before. The JuicedLink saves us a ton of time on the back end, and once we got the settings dialed in with the new firmware, I couldn't be happier with the quality.

Got any examples?
