How do i use split screen(crop) or...

Hi:

Im new to Sony Vegas 6.0 and have 2 questions. One is how do you use split screen or crop an image with this program (to have two of the smae people standing next to each other). Also, i have a clip of photage that at a certain piont i want it to speed up(fast foward) and then go to normal speed again, how would i go about doing this. If you can help me please list step by step instructions because im a bit slow to pick up this software. If anyone could help me i would really appreciate it.

Two simple ways to mask of part of an image

1) Create a bezier mask in the Pan/Crop dialog
- Full instructions in the Vegas Help under Using Vegas Software -> Editing Events on the Timeline -> Panning and Cropping Video Events and select "Create a Bezier mask"

2) Add the "Sony Cookie Cutter" plugin to the event that you want to mask off. You can select from a list of simple shapes and position the shape to create your mask.

In both cases, position one clip on a track under the other and create the mask on the uppermost clip. Using a Bezier mask is far more flexible, but for simple masks, the cookie cutter works fine.

For adjusting the speed of a clip, use a Velocity Envelope. Instructions are in Using Vegas Software -> Editing Events on the Timeline -> Event Envelopes and choose "Adjust a video event's velocity"
