How do I transfer super8 to video using DVX

I recently bought the wonderful DVX100B and I would like to transfer my super8 films to video. Most of my footage was shot in 18fps but some was in 24fps. I have a projector that has 18 and 24 but it is nothing special. I am woried that the frame rate may drift.

I was hoping someone could direct on how to shoot it before I give it a try.

Thanks

Welcome aboard! Check out the Film 35mm 16mm 8mm section of this forum. Try the search function, there's a bunch of stuff about achieving satisfactory results at home (nothing's going to match a telecine from a lab).

I transferred some stuff a few weeks ago (before I got my dvx100b) with a cheap consumer cam, and it came out pretty good without adjusting the shutter speed.

I would suggest shooting 24p with the projector at 24fps for everything, then adjust your shutter. Experiment, then let us know how it turned out!

thanks for the help

the transfer turned out ok, shot 24p @ 1/48th. I could still see minor filcker but my friend did not see any. After capture on my LCD computer screen it looked graet, but have not seen it on a TV or digi projector yet.

I did some research on how quickly our eyes can register frame rates. I guess average is about 16fps, any slower we see flicker, but everyone is different(like me and my friend). Rumor has is that Willie Mays could not watch motion pictures in his day because he could register more than 24 fps, so he saw flicker in every film! Hell I could hit a 95mph fastball if my eye registered over 24 time per second.
