I have a NAS that I use to archive all of my photos and footage, and it is accessible from both the Mac and PC. The NAS is relatively slow to use as a regular hard drive so I also have an external (firewire) hard drive that I am using for editing and storing the large intermediary files created from transcoding. I only edit on the Mac, so the external drive is formatted for the mac, if I need the files in windows I get them off the NAS.
