How do I render for DVD?

At this point I just want to shoot with my new HPX-170 dump it into Vegas, render and burn in the highest quality possible to see how my camera work shows up. I'm using Nero as a burner and it does not want to import the mp3 files I created.

I put the settings to eugenia's recomendations.

Of course I understand this is best for vimeo and not necessarily for burning to DVD. (Maybe that's why it didn't work!)

Could someone tell me what settings are best for rendering at 1080/24,60. Maybe Eugenia has a DVD tutorial out there on this.

You render as MPEG-2.

Use the DVD Architect 24p Widescreen DVD template. Make ONE change, and only this change -- change the Render Quality to BEST. You do this because you will be rescaling the image from 1080 down to 480 and that will give you the best-quality scaling. Do not change anything else.

Audio will not be included. You should then render your audio as an AC-3 file and use the same file name, saving it to the same folder. When you import the video into DVD Architect, the audio will automatically mate up.

Two caveats:

1) Sometimes it helps the render quality to render to Raylight AVI at 720/24pN first, and THEN render for DVD. It can help with fine detail. But only do that if you see a problem.

2) SD widescreen is wider than HD, so you'll see think black lines on both sides of the frame. These won't show on a TV, but they might show if you watch the DVD on a computer. If you want to get rid of them, put your project file (as a nested project) or your 720 file on a 24p DV Widescreen timeline, go into pan/crop, right-click, and choose "Match output aspect."

I was always lazy and exported my SD stuff as an AVI with NTSC DV 24p (2-3-3-2 pulldown) with the quality set to best. It always looks crystal clear on the TVs I play it in. I wonder if MPEG2 looks better
