How do I put a polarizer on an HPX500

I'm in the final stages before being green lit to put my order in on one of these. We do a lot, as in practically everything, on or around the water. A polarizer would be a nice addition.

We're already pushing the budget to get the 500, with a Fujinon xa17x7 17x, so what is the best, low cost way to put a polarizer on the front of that lens? I understand you need a good (as in not cheap) filter, but what brand and what mounting system?

It's a standard lens so there should be good used stuff yes?

Tiffen Circular Polarizers are always a good choice. You can easily find them in the 82mm variety, which will fit on the end of the lens for under $100 U.S.

ahh that's good to know. Many of the shooters I've worked with have had a matte box with rectangular filters they drop in. I wasn't looking forward to the matte box route.

The cheapest solution is to purchase one that screws onto the threads of the lens you're buying. Conversely, you could spend a lot more by purchasing a mattebox and filters to fit.

A multicoated filter is always a better choice. B+W makes good ones - not cheap though.
