"HOW DO I KILL MYSELF?"
I worked on this comedy short a while ago and now it is online so I thought I'd share it with you guys. It's a sensitive topic, but the writer/director managed to somehow make it absurd and comical whilst hopefully not making it too offensive. Shot fully on the Canon 5D Mark II, and includes 2 VFX shots.
It was shot over two days with a very limited budget, but a great small camera team that worked very well and quickly together. One of the highlights of production was the actor having to wear a condom costume (custom designed) in the city center we were filming in, and drawing in a crowd of people wondering what we were up to.
Synopsis:
Thomas is a sad, lonely outcast who does not fit in anywhere. He has no job, girlfriend or friends, and is badgered by his overbearing (but caring) parents. He wants to die! How hard can it be?
I'd like to hear your comments, and in particular I'd like to have an opinion about one thing. We have two versions of the film. The main release is with a voice-over which goes through the protagonist's thoughts. Whilst his comments are occasionally funny and random, some of the feedback we have received so far is that the film would be better without voice over at all.... and so we did another edit without the voice over. Would be interesting to know which version you prefer! I've seen it so many times that I can't really choose, but I think both versions kind of complement each other nicely.
