This is a stupid question. I bought a xlr mic for my dvx100b just wanted to know how to hook up this mic. Basically what i want to know is when the mic is plug into channel1 xlr do i shut channel2 xlr and when it is recording will channel1 xlr mic capture audio on both left and right speakers when play back.
On the lcd preview it shows channel1 capturing audio. Channel 2 nothing.
Will i have sound on both left and right speakers when play back.

If you want to capture to both channels, plug the mic into input two. You can then set the switches for both channel 1 and channel 2 to record from input 2. Otherwise do it the way you have, capturing to one channel. You can easily export the audio and duplicate the track in something like Audacity to get matching stereo tracks, which is what I've generally done.

It doesn't matter if input 2 is on or off if nothing is plugged in.

When I use my DVX in this manner I like to set channel 2 to the level I need then set channel 1 slightly lower. This allows me to switch to channel 1 when channel 2 peaks.

I think it would be a good idea to take the time to read the user manual in detail.

It will help you to really understand the camera. After that, if you still have more questions, post here.
