I'm very new to this video thing using my own money and equipment. In school II used their stuff. Ok so I've searched the internet for two days and I just want to know how to hook up my portable dvd player or any other small lcd screen to my crane just so I can have a monitor while the crane moves.

I've seen it done wirelessly, but I'm electrically challenged. I dont know how to hook any boxes up or even how to read the diagrams. I can do the mechanical part of the rig, but I dont know how to get it to connect.

Is there a way to do it with wires and/or wirelessly?

I'm looking for the simplest most cost effective way. Pls help. This is driving me crazy. I have an av, LANC, headphone, and mic jack on my camera as well as usb and firewire so that wont be a problem if I need one of those. Thanks!

Well, your camera has video out, and the DVD player has video in, correct? My DVD player came with a connector that breaks out into 3 RCA plugs. So pick how you want to get it out of your camera (svideo, component, etc.), and then just find long cables and connectors that convert from the type of connector coming out of your camera to whatever your DVD player takes in (in my case RCA plugs).

You may find the pictures of these cranes useful.

Good luck!

I picked up the smallest motorcycle battery at Kragen auto for about 30 bucks. Got a little charger for 20 bucks. Its not that big at all and powers my monitor for many days on one charge. Dont forget if you get that dewalt battery, you need the charger too.

how can you connect a dewalt battery to your lcd monitor and what battery and charger did you use for your monitor and how did you connect the motorcycle battery to your lcd did you use that radioshack thing and used the cigar adapter, how can you know that your monitor wont blow out ? is there a watts or amps on the lcd (7"LCD monitor) i cant exceed? help

I figure my lcd hooks up to the car thru the cigarette lighter, 12v with the car not running. Same battery, just a smaller version.

Figuring out whether a power supply or battery will work is a question of matching the voltage first and amperage output next--but you should always get adequate amperage output or larger to supply your needs. Underpowering will cause problems. A larger amperage output will not supply more amps to your monitor than it needs. The monitor only draws what it needs no matter what.

Your monitor probably expects a 12v input and will draw a certain amperage so your power supply (whatever it may be) needs to be beefy enough to handle the watt draw of the monitor or ideally just a little larger so its not taxed at its limits.

You can get a much larger power supply or battery then you need in terms of amperage output and it won't fry the monitor unless there is a voltage mismatch (i.e. the monitor expected to use 5v but your battery is putting out 12v or 24v). The monitor only draws from the power supply what wattage/amperage it needs to run and not more.

However, you can't go the other way and underpower the monitor by getting a power supply that won't output the wattage you need. Then you run the risk of burning out the power supply or running down the battery very quickly.

Does this make it clearer?

i c thanx kdawg, i cut buy a charger and a small motor (what batt model did you buy) that has a 12v, connect the radio shack adapter and connect it via the cigar input. and yes the lcd are those 7" lcd monitor that you connect for your car.
