How do I export still frames from my movie?

Can I export still frames from avid to my desktop? I have avid 5.6 and a pc. I want to export still frames to my desktop so that I may retrieve them to make dvd cover art. Can I do this from avid or from the exported qucktime movie or what? By the way, you are dealing with a computer moron. Any help will be greatly appreciated.:dankk2:

First find the frame you want on the timeline. If you have effects, it will show them if you highlight the top track and the clip, even if the clip is an effect, otherwise it will copy whatever track you have highlighted. Mark it with an edit in.

Go to FILE, then EXPORT to open the EXPORT AS... box. chose the file you want to save your pictures to. Click OPTIONS and open the dialogue box. Chose GRAPHIC in the top box. Chose whatever format you want (Photoshop, or...?), size and I usually choose single field. Hit save and you go back to your EXPORT AS box. Hit save and AVID makes your photo. Remember, it's 720 X 486 at 72 DPI, so don't plan on blowing it up to poster size!

If the footage is shot progressive, then export both fields if in an interlace project. If the sources are interlace, I trick I use is drop the interlace -> progressive fluidmotion preset on the clip (don't render) and export a still with both fields. This way you get the full vertical resolution of the frame.
