Hi there! Can anyone tell me what setting or how I can do a time lapse scene on the DVX? I want to take some shots at Fisherman's Wharf and I want it to look like the cars and the busses are passing fast..How much footage should I get? and what setting should I film it at? Thanks!

It's in the menu, in recording settings. Scroll down and you can fill in what you want (within the options). Then exit the menu and press record.

I did this last week. Camera was somewhere 'up there' for 39 hours to film 24. Every five minutes 0,5 seconds. Speed it up to 400% and I got myself 24 hours in about 40 seconds. Looked very nice. (Without the speeding up the sliding clouds and shadows were to jittery.)

Or you could film nonstop and speed that up. But then you'll have way too little tape to get what you probably want.

Time lapsing in-camera isn't likely to give you that smooth look you probably want. Best way is to shoot at standard speed, then speed the footage up in your NLE.

I just shot this video with the 100B http://vimeo.com/13010522

I hooked it up to my laptop and used Adobe Onlocation so I could capture more than just an hour of footage by uploading directly to an external harddrive. I threw it into FCP and sped it up 15000%. I'm not sure if what I did gave me optimal quality but it was my first time. I shot in squeeze mode/24p. I am wondering if there is something I should do with the shutter speed that may improve it..anyone have a suggestion?

Another option if you need to shoot more than an hour is to chain a small MiniDV camcorder to the DVX100b via a firewire cable. Then you can shoot until the heads wear out, just changing the tape in one cam or the other every hour.
