How do I DIY de-click the aperture on Nikon lenses

I have a 35mm 2.8 AI and 50mm 1.8 D that I'd like to de-click. I only payed about $85 a peace for them so I'm willing to try it myself. Can anyone who's done this give me some pointers or recommend a tutorial? I did a search but didn't find very detailed information.
People have recommended Nyogel as a dampening grease, but do I need a light, medium or heavy grease. Would FC-4 grease work? Where's the cheapest place in the USA to get the proper grease. Where exactly do I apply the grease and how much do I apply?

I experimented wrapping teflon on inside barrel on my 50mm 1.4 after removing the metal strip that acts as a kind of spring to "click" on the aperture notches and it kinda worked. I'm opening the lens again later to add more teflon layers.
