Question is in the title. I need to know how to get that 16:9 look that a lot of people get from the A7S II?? Is that something done in post, or should it just record it like that automatically???

The aspect ratio of HD video is, and has been, 16:9 since its inception. And the widest aspect ratio that the A7SII shoots is 16:9.

If, on the other hand, you are talking about a more cinematic aspect ratio, such as 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 -- then the following is true:

1. You can use the Marker Display feature on the A7SII to create a visible framing marker for composing and shooting (Menu > Gear Icon > Submenu 1 > Marker Display On > Marker Setting > Select Your Desired Aspect Ratio).

2. However, the actual masking of that image to match your desired aspect ratio is typically performed in post, using your NLE or, at the very least, your encoder.
