How did they shot this?

My iPad didn't want to open the first link. The one on YuoTube - I think it was shot using a steadicam and processed in something like Adobe AF (or any other compositing tool) using a combination of time remapping techniques. I think that having the original footage I could reproduce the final look.

Or the circular grouping of 50 still cameras like they did on THE MATRIX.

Either way this is HEAVY on the C.G.I. Adobe After Effects at the very least.

this very much looks like a stills camera array and probably not composited in AE, but something like Nuke (although it could be). Temptingly cool to try to out, in 2015 I'd say this is a thoroughly played-out effect -- despite still being a serious technical challenge to do well.

Yup, my money is on a ring of cameras for the 'rotating' effect. Not trivial to do, but certainly cheaper than it was in Matrix days, thanks to dropping camera prices.

I suppose it might also have been done using a computer controlled camera rig zooming around at high speed on a circular track? That would be very specialised gear though.

while technically yes, I think due to the speed variances and any rigging necessary it would be easier just to do the camera array.

Could it be achieved with something like this? Go to 50 seconds in to see the rig.

Possible. That's how this scene was done in The Book of Eli:

If I remember correctly from the behind the scenes, they had to paint out the dolly track for the entire scene. OP's example would be easier because you could push the track outside of the light and crush the blacks to hide it.

My money is on that (done in HFR for retiming effects) or a 360 degree array. The camera moves too perfectly for steadicam.
