How did they light that?

Any guesses to what lighting was used on the talent in this video/commercial?

Looks like mostly side lighting, very shaped and soft light. Probably grid on softbox or kino?

I also wonder how much of the existing location lighting is contributing to the overall image in most scenes.

Would appreciate to hear what you guys think.

The closeups have a big source side light but the wides seem a little toppy. The top light on that wide is soft and controlled for spill in the background so I think it's placed and not local. You can see the shadows in their eye sockets pretty clearly on the wide. The waiter seems to have a low soft side light and a medium soft kicker. All different setups

The fireplace in the opening shot gives it away, too - hard reflection of the soft source hitting the diner's right arm. The practical top light seems to be the overhead.

Wondering what it was shot with, plenty of slowmo - the people could be 60p, the food looks faster - but was likely done in studio if the budget was there.

Here in Dallas, my son has gripped on a LOT of Alexa shoots. It's become a real go-to here - does it do high frame rate like the red though?

All of the food shots are lit specifically for the shot.

For the restaurant scenes, take a look at the medium shot with the wine glasses on the table, you can spot almost all of the light sources in the reflections on the wine glass.

The CU food shots definitely look like very specific lighting.

In the opening shot when the waitress walks and you see her through the glass of the fireplace, you can see how "hot" the white of her apron gets. I think the source is very low on the ground there.

As for the reflections, it makes me think of more strip lighting because they appear thin. But could it just be a 24x36 softbox out of frame?

I might be shooting something similar, so looking for some of the techniques I can "borrow".

24x36 softbox out of frame or as it would have been in my case 9X36 with tungsten inside.
Oddly. I did a quick demo TVC that ended up looking a lot like that and I used Lowel-V-lights in 42" Silver umbrellas, inkies for rim-lights and a pair of Omni lights bounced off walls and ceilings for general fill. I'm not proud of my exported codec so maybe after re-release it I can share that 30sec spot.
Also- I was surprised at how much ambient there is in many restaurants of this type. You usually don't need a ton of lights, just well placed and modulated ones- blending well with the ambient.

Light 1 : looks fairly large, I am guessing 3x4 or 4x4. ( The wine glass is round and tapered, so the hilights from a square light source will always look thin )

Light 2 : looks like a much smaller version of light 1.

Light 3 : looks like a low mounted fresnel with diffusion on it.

Light 4 : is bouncing off the wall behind the server.

Light 5 : The wall is probably lit by another source and dimmed down.

Light 6 : Is the practical that is out of shot here, but is top-lighting the scene.
