*HOW* did they get another 1/2 stop out of 1/3rd CCDs for the new HVX/HPX?

320 to 500 ISO is a pretty big jump, getting us much closer to the DVX's 640 ISO... and with less noise presumably?? Wow, that is very impressive - and without increasing the sensor size?

What wizardly is/was employed to do this? I am very curious how so much more was able to be squeezed out of that sensor size... that's over a 50% improvement in sensitivity while also reducing noise? At the same sensor size? WOW!

The angle of view has changed on the HVX200a and it is no sure, if that is not due to slightly bigger sensors.

It represents two years of technological advancement. Don't know exactly how they did it (but I do suspect the slightly larger sensors had something to do with it) but ... given enough time they can make anything happen, and they've had over two years to work on it.

I heard that the main reason for the change was because their supply of sensors dried up. In order to continue making the HVX Panasonic had to find another source. As Barry said, after 2 years, this level of sensor has advanced.
