How can I stream my video from a remote location?

I want to cover an event that is in the city streets and broadcast it at a decent speed and quality over the internet.

Is there a cost friendly way of doing this?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Are you looking for a site that will stream for you? If so, checkout ustream.com

Or are you looking for a step by step set up on HOW to stream?

I want to know how I get my footage from a remote location like out on the street up onto a stream site like ustream - basically how do I get a remote internet connection powerful enough to stream video.

Is it possible?

I'd love a step-by-step guide to live streaming.
I'm planning to use a Sony HVR-V1U and a PowerBook G4 (PowerPC 1.67 gHz and 2GB of RAM).
Any advice?

I know of 4 streaming providers:

UStream, BlogTV, Justin.tv and Stickam.com (My suggestions is Justin.tv).

You're going to need Flash Media Encoder and a decent internet connection, at the very leaset DSL, perferable Cable. T1 is actually slower than a Cable connection.

You can probably feed the internet connection out into a router (or a second router) that you'd have outside with you, but you'd need somebody to monitor the computer for encoding.

You also going to need some kind of capture card. Your best option is one of the Osprey Cards for ViewCast.

You should be able to use VLC, you can then connect it to your Video capture card and stream it using HTTP, or MMS, it has tons of encoding settings,

Problem is I never quite managed to get it to work (even on my local network)
