how can I reduce the strobing in my 1080p24 shots

I've been experimenting with different shutter speeds but so far most of my handheld 1080p24 scenes suffer from way too much strobing.

How can I reduce the strobe effect when I shoot at 24P? I am very careful to move my GH1 slowly, but still I see the strobe effect whenebver I shoot any motion at 24p.

I've tried shutter speeds of 50, 60, 120, even 160 and 200, but can't seem to get rid of the 24p strobe/stutter. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong.

Any suggestions / help would be much appreciated.

How are you imorting your shots? I just found out I had strobes at 24f/s because of inacurate settings on FCP Log and Transfer , try check that in case !
Will test more soon.

The strobing should not be caused in any way by your NLE. Somthing in the NLE might cause the footage to be stuttery but that is a different problem entirely.

Nicholas, keeping the shutter at 1/50th is the answer. If it's still strobing then you probably need to slow things down even more. 24p is really not suitable for some types of high-action shots, and you may be finding this out the hard way.

There is a Hollywood formula for pans in 24p material and it's something like 30secs to pan 90 degrees, so yes, you need to slow down the pans really slow or do whip pans. Don't do medium pans.
