How can I insert a picture into live footage???

Hey everyone,

I'm shooting my first short film tomorrow and the following day.
I've run into a problem and won't be able to get a photo for a certain shot... so I was wondering how I could insert a photo to be in a scene on a power pole?

I'm using final cut studio.

If anyone can help me as soon as possible that would be great.
I really need to know this soon.

Thanks
Daniel

What exactly do you mean "insert a photo to be in a scene on a power pole?" This isn't very clear. Can you describe the scene, the photo, and where the photo should end up?

The generic answer is that you import the photo into FCP, and edit it in using video layers, size, rotation, and cropping (motion tab in the viewer)... just like any other element in your project. Those are the most basic tools, and Motion will probably be a great place to start if it's any more complex.

But a better description of what you want will help us steer you in the right direction.

Sorry about that simplistic description... I was just in a rush... and still am :(
gotta leave in 20 minutes to go shoot.

Anyway,

In the shot there will be half the screen or so filled with a powerpole on the left, and a person kissing their fingers than touching the pole on the right.

Now, on the powerpole, I need a photo (Yet i haven't been able to get this photo for tomorrow) to be placed on it, as if its been stuck there by someone. There will be flowers around the pole as well... I just need to edit in the photo. The photo doesn't have to be big, just clear enough to be able to notice what it is.

Hope that helps?

Thanks again
Daniel

Well, assuming that the camera is locked down, you get the digital image (from a digital camera or a scan) and add it in as a video layer. Reduce the size, rotate it a little, and put it where you need it in the frame.

You'll have to be very careful as to how you do this to avoid it looking keyed in. Motion is really going to help, since it has a few more advanced compositing tools.

Can the source not email you a full-rez file? Something you can print in a pinch?
