How bad is this?

Shooting the other day and swapping between cards. Well silly enough I ejected the P2 card that was recosrding....The camera asked me in big red letters to shut off the camera. I did so than went back to work.

How bad is this for my camera and card. Just a case of OCD and fear of damaging my poor HVX.

Thanks

It won't hurt the card or the camera, but the files may be unusable. You can try repairing them in the camera, but that won't always fix the clips.

PCMCIA/PCCard was designed for hotplugging, i.e. the user can insert and remove cards without turning off the system and/or restarting without the risk of physical damage.

At worst, if a write operation is occurring while you remove the card, the clip might get damaged. The camera might still be able to repair the clip, but you should obviously avoid having to do this in the first place.

If you are paranoid about having done something bad to the card, reformat it in the camera or using P2 Viewer (on the PC).
