Hours Used?

When does the number of hours used become too much? Just trying to gauge how the quality degrades relative to the number of hours used. Any help is greatly appreciated, thx

Depends on the type of hours. 30 hours in a desert or hurricane is different than 30 hours in a studio.

What the dogg said. But most prosumer cams are good from 500-1000 hours and then need a serious servicing, maybe head replacement.

I have 235 hours on my camera, and never had any types of problems. I can count the amount of dropouts that I have had on one hand. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Maybe you just use MQ tapes.

I had just under 200 hours, and needed to get the heads professionally serviced. They weren't replaced, it cost about 250 Canadian Dollars- and all is well now.

I'm at 459 hours and still running strong.
I shoot exclusively on AY-DVM63PQ tapes.
