Hours Reset in the menu screen.

Ive seen it many times and dont dare to select it as i dont want to erase my actual hours but what does this do???? I imagine you need some kind of code to put in after selecting it but I dont want to do it and find that it resets the hours to zero. anyone have any info on this? googles turning up nothing.

If it is like the EX3, there are two settings: one is Hours (SYS) and one is Hours (Reset). It's like the odometer and trip odometer in your car - you can reset one to see how miles you are putting on in a single trip, but the other always keeps counting.

I reset the EX3 you sold me right when I got it, so now the Hours (SYS) reads 50 hours, but the Hours (Reset) reads 31. I know I have used it for 31 hours since I got it last month. Not sure why that info would actually be valuable, but that seems to be what it is for.
 
No Will it's my EX1 and its the same deal. thanks man i never thought of that but i guess that makes sense. hows the camera???
 
Yep, Will is right. The SYS is the non-changeable one. The resettable one is good for...I dunno.

I guess a rental place could reset it to see how many hours someone put on their camera gear. Or I reset mine when I put new firmware on it. I could see accounting purposes too...I'm glad we at least have the option.
