hour meter problem...help please

I have only recorded about 34 minutes of tape and the hour meter shows 3H

also when I first turned it on it didn't ask me to set the time first thing.

and there's a small ding inside the lenshood, and a lil' mark on the lens itself, tried to clean it but it won't go away.

so is that normal use of hours, I haven't even finished a tape and it has 3 hours already?????? how about if the usage is under an hour what is it supossed to show?

anybody with a new DVX out there, what does your hour meter show after like 10 minutes of recording?
 
Unix, it is not only the 'Recording time' that the hour meter registers in the camera. In fact the hour meter is reading the time for which the Cassette engagement mechanism remains active.

While you inserted a tape and recorded for only 34 minutes, if you include the time in between shoots, that would roughly add up to around three hours. so I dont think that should be a concern.

For the lens try a proper lens cleaner. I feel that on out of the box lenses, marks are relatively harder to remove. In fact you should immediately put on ur UV filter on the lens....and...get one if u dont have it already.
