Do hours/time get put on you heads even when you arent recording?
say im just changing or testing a few setting (withought recording) will it count toward that time?
haha yeahh cuz i was messing around and i remembered the hours being 106 n it chaged to 108 n i only recorded for like 2 5min. clips so i started freakin out haha
just make sure you take out the tap if you are just testing. so that wont add any hours.
However once you put a tape in, the hours start to count...how stupid hu
Actually, it makes perfect sense. When a tape is in the camera and the camera is turned on, the tape is threaded and positioned against the spinning tape heads, creating a certain amount of friction and wear. So it's only proper that the camera register this amount of wear.
ok but the tape isnt moving after being threaded right??
so just say im changing setting n what not for an entire hour, withought pressing rec.
why should that count as an hour when the heads/tape moved only when the tap was inserted and threaded one time, with no other movement??
the tape cant always be moving right? unless you will start recording in a random position.
It may not be moving but the head is engaged, as far as I know. What should happen is after a minute or two, the head should disengage and the hour meter should pause. The price for this sleep or semi-sleep mode would be a slight delay after the record button is hit.
What is strange, in my opinion, is that this line of thinking has not been applied to odometers in vehicles.
