Hi everyone. I have the Hosa XVM-101F cable and Audio-Technica AT875R shotgun mic. Very good combo for the GH2 in which the port powers the mic. Just got my GH4 yesterday. This combo seems to be working, I'm getting good levels with Mic Level Limiter set to off. I'll do more testing but I have the Mic Level Adj set to +2dB.....so far so good! I had read this combo didn't work so well on the GH3 (never did buy one). Might be an alternative to the Videomic Pro.

Would you be able to record a silent room tone with the mic and GH4 and determine what the noise floor is when going directly into the GH4's 3.5mm audio in?

Interesting. I have this mic, & though I have RVMPs also, may add the cable for backup.

Yeah, very interesting, thanks! I wonder how the recording sounds vs. videomic pro, and vs. the panasonic shotgun mic. If this works well, it would be more versatile than those two. Looking forward to hearing the results.

I'm using this cable with my Rode NTG-2 and it works tip top.

Just got the cable, & tested it with Audio-Technica's AT875R mic, but found the output far too low. Rode's VideoMic Pro sounds much better.
