C200: Horror film trailer shot on c200

What's up guys!

We shot a parody horror film and used the C200 for gimbal shots. Our A cam was a Red Komodo. Both cameras intercut very well together.

Would love to know your thoughts!

Specifically any constructive criticisms in regards to lighting, cinematography, sound design and other technical things.

I was a one man bad on this shoot, (camera, lighting, sound, editing, VFX, everything).

I rarely ever (almost never) critique anyone's film work because just going out and trying to make any film is pretty honorable - but the only thing I'd love to have seen is that opening shot in slow-motion (or like 48fps) with a perfectly stable camera panning/tracking the person on the bench as the car drives by...

...that would have been something as an opener; just a dreamy, interesting shot to immediately capture attention even better than it currently does.

Also, is that a Punisher shirt? And if so, why?

Nice job!

I appreciate the feedback! I absolutely agree regarding the opening shot. It was originally just opening on the profile shot of the actor on the subway, but it felt like we were on the shot for too long. We tried opening on an establishing shot of the downtown skyline but we couldn't find a stock footage shot that didn't feel "fake". That random shot of the person under the blanket was something we had captured while we were driving around downtown and figured it was creepy and kind of fit. I tried stabilizing it but it was too warp-y and weird. We hadn't planned on that being the shot, but it was a last minute choice before we exported and uploaded the video (literally the last thing we did before the final export was dropping in that shot!)

The reason he's wearing the skull shirt is because Sid from Toy Story wears that exact shirt:

The whole concept is a spin-off of this character from the first Toy Story movie.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Great work. One man band? You deserve more help!

Everything works for me production wise. I'm sure you considered it but I think a more obvious likeness with original Sid would let the audience connect the dots faster.

You probably didn't have access to Will Poulter either:

Haha, yes! My writing partner and I talked about Will Poulter the entire time we were making the sketch. Only thing is that we are a comedy duo, (he is in front of the camera, I'm behind it) so he has to star in all of the sketches no matter how much he doesn't resemble whatever we're parodying. At the end of the day, as long as we're having fun, I think it's worth it!
