Hoping for book on HMC-150

I finally have had some time to read through a little of the book. I am definitely glad I picked it up. Ive already picked up a few good pointers and I really like the section on the waveform and scopes.

Also love it, close to being finished! Only 1 thing I could suggest, bigger pictures. Hard to see the difference in a few examples :P - Still a very good guide.

Yeah, that's what the CD is for -- all the pictures are there, and you can load 'em up in photoshop and toggle between 'em and really see the differences.

Glad you love it!

Barry, excellent book, could you clarify a point on audio for me please. With the 150, to record optimum audio at a loud event (say a concert or wedding reception). Should the audio levels be in the red, a few dots under the max? Or, at the high end of the white, popping into the red on the occasional instance of a louder noise?? Thanks

Ah, for some reason I remember you mentioning that - forgot! Good looking out...

On an HMC150 you never want to see red, ever. Red means clipped/distorted audio.

Applicable to HMC40

Applicable to HMC40

Barry,

I am pretty sure that I am going to buy an HMC40. I realize that this would be conjecture on your part, but how applicable will the HMC150 book be to the HMC40. Seems like the work flow would be identical and although the menus are implemented differently the capabilities: gamma, color matrices, detail, coring, knee, chroma level and phase, color temp, master pedestal, etc seem pretty similar.

thanks,
rich

Barry, just got the book. I have to say, EXCELLENT job! Really well done from the indepth information to the quality printing to the CD in the back...this is a MUST have.

If you own the HMC-150 (or are thinking of getting one) you owe it to yourself to get a copy of this book!

Thanks Barry.

My guess is that it will be very applicable, from what I saw of the HMC40 at NAB. But without time to work with an HMC40 and verify the settings, I can't guarantee that. I am itching to get my hands on one so I can put it through its paces and see.

Finished it a couple days ago and I feel armed and ready to go, hah.

Best help so far is getting the right composite output settings for my monitor. It was 4:3 on a 16:9 monitor all squared down - now full 7" of great HMC footage viewable on the monitor with the camera text readout! pic here: cflbars.com/images/jib_done_boxserver.jpg

Now on to using some looking good scene files!
