We shot this DVX100, premiered it at Sacramento Festival of Cinema--where they surprised us with an award for Best Overall in Cinema. Was very cool for the writer, who'd dedicated it to her mom who'd passed away...

Not too happy with the streaming, but it's sufficient enough to view if you've the bandwidth. Windows Media streams better, from what I've seen from this site...

Re: Hope.

Can't really make any critics because it lags so much on my computer :-/
Compression is very bad!

Odd.

Odd.

Yeah, I need to post it on my site rather than completely entrust the Film Festival site. What's your connection speed?

Re: Hope.

I think something happened when you compressed it...the ending got cut out somehow but there were still credits ;). It looked good, but it wasnt really a complete story for me.

Re: Hope.

I didnt compress it--the festival did. You guys using Quicktime? :)

I need to convert it to a .mov file first.

Re: Hope.

No problem with the streming from my side...

I must say I am very impressed by this short-movie: it is quite simply excellent! Music, acting, cinematography, everything was perfect! I was totaly IN the movie, and I guess that it is the best thing I can say about it! You (the whole team) really deserved your award!

I hope to see more great features (short or longer) coming from you! Congratulations!

P.S. I love your avatar: Brazil is my favorite movie :)

Re: Hope.

no problems here..

good stuff... I really enjoyed the short story.. and from what I could see it had some great lighting and acting.. although a higher resolution movie is definately in order..

good work!

Re: Hope.

Thanks for the feedback, folks.

I need to upload 3 films to my site--2 ten minute pieces and one 20 minute piece. You think .mov files are the way to go?

Re: Hope.

I agree with MOE. DUDE I LIVE IN GRANITE BAY!  :o We totally need to hook up. How about another DVX100a on the team? ;)

Re: Hope.

told you before in an email that I liked this short a lot, but I should say it again: its great! the car - how did you do the car scene jason??

thanks

The car...

The car...

We rolled a Land Rover. ;D

We procured the Rover from a parts lot; hauled it to the location, rolled it onto its side, hooked up a battery to give it power, and voila.

The garden hose rain was actually just as difficult...

Re: Hope.

Chipotle's alright, I'm addicted to starbucks. ;D do you want to corrdinate on anything? or are you just gonna live at chipotle essay?

Re: Hope.

Wow. Bravo.

CONTENT IS KING is setting the example on this. This short sucked me in. Truly one of the best things I have seen here or any 'Film' site. I loved this piece. I was moved.

Your talent in this was first rate. I believed every word of it. Every cry, every plea. The sound design was wonderful, the constant rain and thunder set the mood to a 'T'. The direction and cinematography were first rate; super cool pro. I am impressed. Honestly, the whole package was in this for me. I am looking very forward to seeing more from you.

Any issues I had regarding the comrpression is the 'ghosting' effect of the stream, as if a strip of viel was laid over the image. Too bad, because I ma sure there is a true version of this that looks epic.

What a great job; I am inspired.

If I were a girl, I'd be blushing.

If I were a girl, I'd be blushing.

Well, golly, thanks kindly. :)

I just sent it and the 'Scratching the Surface' documentary off to the Seattle International Film Festival today. We'll see how it goes.

Man, one could go broke real quick submitting to festivals...I need to budget in submission fees...

Oh, wait, that would connote having a budget...
