HOW TO HOOK UP A VIDEO REFERENCE MONITOR TO G5 RUNNING FCP4

I think this is a simple question, hope y'all can help!

I'm trying to rig my system so I can watch my footage on a standalone reference monitor while I edit. Any ideas on a good affordable solution? Considering the following equipment I intend to use (1) is it possible (2) what will I need, i.e. in the way of videocard, etc, to do this?

> G5, running FCP4
> APPLE STUDIO DISPLAY (Model: M7768, links on monitor are below)
It has DVI video/power cable

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated and will make my work a lot easier and more enjoyable.

Thanks in advance!!

Look at www.atitech.com and www.aver.com for external adapters. But I don't think they make anything with component video. S-video is about the best I've seen.
I'd give Rush at EVS a call and see what he recommends.

The best bet is to use a low cost deck/MiniDV camera to get real output, not just a desktop extension. Hook it up to your computer by firewire and use the analog (ideally S-video) from your camera to go to a video monitor. Be sure to calibrate your monitor.
You didn't say what editing software you use.

Re: HOOKING UP A REFERENC MONITOR TO G5/FCP4

what he said, heres my super cheap way i do it

dual monitors, cheap-o 600 dollar mini-dv camera (no deck...we work on 10,000 a winter budget, so its cameras and more cameras and traveling expenses)...running osx on g5

just export from firewire to camera/deck...s video to refrence monitor

technically you have your dual monitors, camera lcd, and refrence monitor as viewable screens..obviously the LCD is pretty useless, but the camera is a reasonable priced go between from computer to monitor unless u add in a card for direct s video or composite output...plus the cheap camera serves a dual purpose as a deck
