Homemade record button.

I did some doc run and gun style shooting the other day with my AF100 and it became painfully obvious how much I missed the record button on the top handle. I kept instinctively pressing where the shoe mount is on the handle because that's roughly where the record button was on my HPX170. Anyway since I kept hitting the shoe mount, I figured why not make a simple record button with a wire to the s/s port that mounts to the shoe mount. So I was wondering if anyone has found a low profile button somewhere that I could make one with? Radioshack has plenty of buttons that would work for a record button, but they are all just way too deep and not low profile enough for the design I'm thinking. My only other option would be to use a deeper button like the ones at Radioshack and extend it beyond the front of the handle so it appears to be low profile and my thumb could still access it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I miss a record button on the top and a record button on the front like on the 500. I was long-lensing, chasing moving targets, and there was no easy, fluid, way to start the record. We were thinking we might just velcro the remote to the pan arm, and if that doesn't work, buy a button for the tripod.

I also miss the record button on top, so here is how I still achieve it. I use my same Varizoom remote record/zoom/iris controller that I use when I am on a jib, i just mount it to the handle. Of course I can only use record, and if I'm using any of the Lumix lenses and I get the FOCUS/IRIS jack to fit just right (it's not a perfect fit like it was for my HVX and HPX) I can use it for jib mounted iris control, too.
