hey all this is a short I made about a woman coming home for christmas, but finding an empty apartment, except for a creepy cat lingering in the background.
 
i shot this with a mini 35 kit i built.  
 
i'm probably going to sound like i'm making excuses, but i'll make them anyways.  
 
i needed way more lighting.
 
i have a lighting kit that i let a fellow filmmaker use. wish i could have used it here. i think it would have had way more dramatic impact.

it just feels like it wasn't so very 35mm-ish. I was expecting wide shots and maybe spacious scenery-
of course, not saying evry 35mm has to have that but you could have done the same without 35mm.
maybe it's just cuz its so compressed, i couldn't really tell. I hate watching movies on the web. that is all from me.
looks very depressing though!

I agree with DvPixl... didn't really seem like there was any mini35
I liked it though! I think one shot you could see the cameramans shadow creep in, wasn't sure if it was hers or the cameramans

I like to see you do a test with more light and also one outside so we can get a better feel of what the homemade kit looks like.

don't get it - afoot? april fools??? are you trying to say that i was lying about having a 35mm kit?

i have it rigged where my dvx100 shoots down into the focusing lens of a 35mm camera. i have a 24mm lens which makes it the angle real wide.

It looked good. Your right, some shots looked dark. I think if you had her go from room-to-room, the message of "loneliness" might have been conveyed better. Just a thought. Oh, and I wanted the cat to wink at the end. That should be your signature, your mark. Think about it.

Does this setup reverse the image? The numbers on the door are backwards.

On my screen things were so dark I couldn't really make out some of the action. May just be my system, but the cat, rather than creepy, was just a dark blob.

Yes this setup will both flip the image upside down and mirror it. It is necessary to undo these effects in post.

yea it does flip letters and numbers around, has to do with the mirror in the camera that i am using. the best thing is to avoid them, or like he said fix it in post.

ill definately be posting some more stuff with my kit - stuff with better light.
