>:( hey all this is a short I made about a woman coming home for christmas, but finding an empty apartment, except for a creepy cat lingering in the background.

i shot this with a mini 35 kit i built.

i'm probably going to sound like i'm making excuses, but i'll make them anyways.

i needed way more lighting.

i have a lighting kit that i let a fellow filmmaker use. wish i could have used it here. i think it would have had way more dramatic impact.

let me know what you all think.

thanks...

id really want to see this in higher quality. Its so dark, small and compressed, I cant even tell it had a 35mm lense on it

I agree.

Can't tell anything from this visually. At first I thought the flower pedals were blood splatters until I saw her drop them from her hand. (those are flower pedals, right?)

Storywise, I wouldn't have known what it was about if you didn't tell us. Was wondering why she was just standing there in frame at the beginning, especially for so long. I didn't know she was standing at a doorway until you cut to that POV well after the fact. There's more, but it's not important.

Normally I'd suggest re-cutting the edit, but the images are so dark that I'd sooner suggest re-shooting. Especially since this is really obviously just intended to experiment with the homemade mini-35 kit. Would love to see what else you put together with it though.

Question: Would location sound be an issue if you're using a homemade mini-35? Like is there a motor turning the CD in there that would be picked up on a boom?

I like the waiting... In fact I kinda liked the rhythm of the edit, but it's true it still have some rough ends.

From the compression you used, I couldn't tell if you shot with a mini 35, a trv17 or a movicam. The images were way underexposed and the compression was terrible to the point everything seemed out of focus.

Contentwise, I thought it was charming, but still rough.

Let's see some more!
