Homemade dolly film.

some really smooth shots and composition, when you did the loop around the yellow race car at end it looked like a commercial for cars but in miniworld...hahahaha okay that made me laugh, but seriosly, looks good

the dolly is pretty ugly, but hey, no one's gonna steal an ugly dolly right? Anyway, it is my first prototype. The pretty one is on the way. But I thought the moves looks really clean. The shot of the kitchen was done on the bar, showing just how much you can do in very limited space.

soon, I tried uploading some earlier, but it's so ugly the computer booted it out. as soon as my computer recovers, I'll try again.

hahahahhah

the moves looked smooth.

I'm guessing this is a miniskater clone? Anxious to see some pics.

Nice work.

the moves definitely looks smooth and the small size of the unit would be pretty convenient shooting in interior s with limited space

Looks awesome! Loved that short distance focus pull you had going on there. It's worth it for that alone!

The design raises some questions for me and for my purposes though-

Does it work with a tripod? Or is it intended only as a worms eye view, table top or countertop dolly?

Does the wheel structure create noise when moving? If you're shooting a narrative and you're booming, this could be an issue for location sound.

If you're building and selling, what's your price?

Thanks much and again, shots look awesome.

the dolly is silent. You could put a really short tripod on it I guess. It just has to fit on the deck. I will have an answer on price and stuff to build them by next week.
It works really well in confined spaces which is one of its strengths. The lack of complicated rigging makes it fun and easy to work with.
The short pull focus shot was something I probably wouldn't have tried with my track dolly just because I'm lazy and it would have required too much work.(jk)
But working on the kitchen table was a breeze.
The only downside to the inline wheel set up is this. The surface has got to be smooth. But if you are looking at time and labor, chopping a piece of brown board to fit into a location is pretty easy compared to trying to get a track set up.
Like I said earlier, the kitchen shot was taken from the standard apartment bar/ counter, and those aren't very wide.
I actually had a dream last night and saw the completed model. It was a pretty detailed dream and I had worked out all the kinks. So, look forward to seeing a really impressive piece of equipment very soon.

I still haven't looked at the footage. But I'm sure it's up to par. Remember! I'm first in line! LOL!!!

Good job!!!

haha 1 post on this site!! no way im first!! everyones making there own skater minis except me :( , we need mass productions of these things, there great little dollys

Too late! The first thing I did when I signed up was send him a message! I win!

Lol

No seriously, I agree... someone needs to freaking start selling their skaters on this site. I've been trolling these boards for six months (seven I think), and everyone creates super tight stuff... but no one wants to sell. It seems like it took forever for 35mm adapters to start being produced for the DVXuser community. Q's/LetUs35 is fresh!

Anyway, back to Skater Dolly-- I'm first!!!! Muahahahahahaha.

A+ Sneak Peek footage, Future.

pretty smooth footage. I only noticed one slight bump in the motion. How about a pic / price for your creation.

and hahaha @ the movie maker comment...you know you will get at least one frown from claiming to use that

What song was that? I like it.

-EDIT-
I should wait to reply AFTER the clip is over.

Cool dolly. Sell some. Make money. Retire. Die.

At least, that's my plan..well not the dol-OH FORGET IT.
