Home studio, what to get? Flash & sync for 5dmk2

I would buy a Quarda kit in a heartbeat over anything else if I had the money.

It's a nice bit of kit, which served me well over the years and still does. For more power i use the Ranger RX A/S speed.

This is with the standard battery( the Li-on is much smaller and lighter)

...When I shot large format stills I used 12,000 watts of Speedotron black-line strobes, but today's cameras are way too sensitive for this kind of power, which is next to useless. ( I saw five excellent condition Speedotron 2400 watt black-line strobes selling for $600 each because nobody wants these any more, they are way too powerful )

+1 Einstien strobe - $499 each

This is the strobe that I would buy today, as it's compact, powerful enough, can run from a battery pack, and has very fast flash speed so it can freeze almost anything. Small portable flashes are fun to work with, but without a proper modeling light you may have some trouble previsualizing exactly what each strobe light is doing for your shot.

Q flashes are a whole other catagory that strike a nice balance between a strobe and a speedline. Just so its clear, I'm not a hater of speedlights, I just love strobes.

Q flashes as in Quantum ?

We are referring to Elinchrom Quadra which falls in the batterypack/head category.

Jus to clarify :-)

As for AB Einstein, they aren't a viable solution for professionals in EU as we have brands like Profoto, Elinchrom and Bowen with full service and support.
