What do you do when your still camera is miles away and your wife is being induced into labor? Grab your DVX on your way to the hospital.

OK. I'm sure it would be impossible for me to be objective about the video quality, but the DVX performed great. Here's my first frame grab posting.

DVX100
24Pa
CineGamma=On
Matrix=Normal
Under hospital warming lights. No color correction.

I could be wrong about settings as I was a little sleep deprived during the shoot. ;)

Re: Home Movies

Wow. That's a pretty cool (temp) pic for being under warming lights (no puns intended anywhere in there).

Re: Home Movies

YEAH!!! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing. (hiding this post from my wife!!)

Anyway, I dropped the camera twice during conception, didn't have the guts to bring it to the labor room!!

;D ;D ;D

Re: Home Movies

Congrats!

I don't know what the specific lighting conditions were, but it looks good (especially for an unprepared shoot). The VHS video my parents shot of me in my infancy looks like we had nothing but red light bulbs installed, so in that sense, your child is fortunate. :P

Re: Home Movies

That shot right there proves that content is KING. You coulda shot that on a pixelvision and it would still have been gorgeous.

Seriously...

I'm just 18, and can't imagine what it would be like having a child, but its seeing stuff like this that kind of warms my heart a bit...god I sound sappy :)

Re: Home Movies

Between adorable newborns and deceased feline friends, this is about the gushiest group of grown men I've ever seen . . . ;)

Re: Home Movies

Is something wrong with my computer or the picture not online anymore? I don't see anything.

By the way, congrads on the baby!

LOL. I was thinking the same thing myself, David, but it must be a good thing! Thanks everyone for the congrats.

Re: Home Movies

All I see is a box with an "X"

Am I going crazy?!?! Is there a setting I can change to get it?

Re: Home Movies

Hey -- (and this is for the over 35 crowd...)

In the words of football great Rosey Grier:

"It's Alright to Cry... Crying gets the hurt out of you... Even big boys cry."
--My Mom bought "Free to be You and Me" for my kids last month as she had done for me and my sister 32 years ago... Sat there and cried my eyes out in front of my TwoBoys.

Life goes by too quick... look at life and all in it the way you do that picture and we will ALL be better for it!

Sappy and Proud!

Re: Home Movies

hey congrats man!! thats awsome. :)

and dont worry mike, we were all 18 at one time, and thought that having kids would be like cutting a leg off or somthing ..lol, but its actually one of the coolest things in the world. when it comes down to it, its like having your own little club called a family.. and you all love and support eachother .. its alot better than all the macho crap were thrown into along the way.. :P just remember that everyone is always learning and growing.. when you were 10 i doubt you would want to go back to only knowing what you did when you were 5.. and at 18 i doubt youd even go back to 16.. it all looks silly in the rearview. and at 20, and 25, and 30 and 40 , till the day we all die.. it continues..

alot of people think really old peole are dumb, but i think were just not at the level they are yet.. just like when people are 13, and they think they know so much more than their parents, .. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!! and most elderly just want to be with thier family, and grandkids, and great grandkids, and pets and such, and have quiet time to smell the roses each morning.. its just all about the love in the end.. nothing else matters :'( :'( :'(
