Hello All:

I've just been experimenting with the new Flash 8 codecs. You can see the results here of our family trip last summer to the Smokey Mountains. This is streaming from a normal server as a .flv file of only 9000 KB.

You may need to upgrade to Flash 8 which only takes a few seconds...

I'd be curious to know how it streamed on your end.

All the best,

Michael

Michael, wow that new Flash codec is awesome! I've been looking forward to seeing video encoded with VP6. I dare say it lives up to the hype.

Streaming was just about perfect on 1.5 meg DSL, until almost at the end it stopped downloading for some reason. Great home video, btw.

Here's more info on the codec:

That looks amazing at only 9 megs. I'm really excited to see where this will go. A quote from that article above:

"VP6 is state of the art. It really is like the difference between driving a 2006 model car and a car from the 1970s. The differences in performance and features are that great."

streamed fine here. Looks nice.

I just purchased the on2vp6 plug for Sorenson Squeeze 4.2. Testing right now. 1st impression is that it takes about 7 times longer to render a file.

I'll have a link to some clips soon...
