you see that rectangular shape just behind the seat there? the tape goes in the top of that, much like an 8 track tape...half of it sticks out...

Michael says they were captured by Obin Olson. Pretty damn impressive. One of the guys states "for the cameras based on these chips, expect to pay around $4-6K." Guys, my "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" bell is ringing like crazy, but so far it looks like all of this stuff is the real deal. The screenshots below are great.

those are jpegs, this camera captures raw uncompressed to a hard drive, so no you dont use tapes.

This project is really impressive, it demonstrates that digital cinema IS becoming reality, and HOPEFULLY the big boys Sony et al, eventually realise that they can no longer fix prices absurdly higher than the actual price of the technology.

Somehow I suspect Sony will be the last to adopt that as a strategy :(

I really have grown to detest Sony.

The makers are going to release some sort of leaflet/website thing, at the mo they are working on full 35mm cmos 4:4:4 camera.

The way they like to work is make first and then talk about it later, hold on DRAKE 2(or is it 3?) is on its way!

I also heard that they plan to sell these cameras (built to order) anyway go and find out @ Dvinfo site

if this stuff really works, i wouldnt be surprised to see a ton of people with homemade mini35s switching out the ground glass with these sensors ;D
