buy off the shelf cmos sensors Altasens/ IBIS 5-A add decent lens c-mount etc connect to comptuer MAKE YOUR OWN software to capture and process raw 4:4:4 hi-res image (progressive) at any rate you desire from 3 fps -30fps

store uncompressed on hardrive for later "processing"

but you gotta see this guys !!

Yeah,

Markus and Rai did a great job and the most interesting is that they planned to do a business and sell their model of camera.

funny thing is although this will probabily not true at all but I cant help feel that i had this idea fisrt, if you searh the DVinfo threads you will find one of my post that predates all these DIY HD stuff and althoug it was meant as a solution to the 35mm adaptor it at least in essense had the hallmarks for what is happing now,

yea yea before you start shouting at me, i know i wasnt the fisrt (or the last) ;D

Hmm, what codec is that AVI using? WMP errors trying to play it.

Hmm that's odd. I think those files as DivX actually now that I think about it. You will need the DivX codec I believe.

NOTE: These files are compressed to DivX. This is not the native capture format.

Very much for real. This is just the first of several in development and is still in it's testing stages. It's only going to get better and better!

Who needs HDV when we can get the sort of stuff Mr. Lucas gets for about the same price (as HDV) ?!

Rich, I think that was shot with a 2/3'' CCD (if it was 1/2'' I'd be very confused....). Thus the DOF should be very very similar but nominally deeper than 16mm. A fast telephoto lens can make it seem even shallowed, though.

I remember even the sdx900 had impressive DOF. (Drools while remembering sdx900 footage.)

If this camera had a built in mini35 then a mount for SLR lenses I'd just go crazy drooling over it. But a 2/3'' sensor is big enough to get some nice DOF.

Oh, the camera isn't mine. It was made by few guys in Germany. I wish I knew what it looked like as well...

If I find out I'll be sure to post pics.

It can look like Diick Cheney taking a crap for all I care. If it actually does 1080p at 24fps for less than $20,000 and you can actually make a great looking film with it I'm going to try to get one. I've even heard numbers being thrown around like $5000-7000. I'm not a total expert in the business of indie filmmaking, but if you can do HD in 1080p at 24fps with acceptable dynamic range, etc., it does seem like it's really going to change the entire face of indie filmmaking. Or maybe not. We'll see.

edit: I can't believe I can't write the Vice Predient's first name without the forum displaying it as 'sick'.
