Holding the Crossfade in place

Okay, what I need to figure out how to do is how I can overlay one video over the other one. Like in the "crossfade" transition, except I want it to stop at about 50% while both videos are visible for a while, before it goes back to the original video.

Does premiere let you do this? If yes, please let me know how.

How about setting the top videos opacity to 50% then just dissolve in and out.

Yup. Keyframe opacity. That's how I do almost all of my crossfades.
