i just finished a small overture for a local play. i shot it all at 24P in standard 4:3 mode, because the entire thing was going to be projected on a gigantic screen which i didnt know the size/resolution of, so i figured i'd play it safe.
however, i'm going to be shooting my first real student short this weekend with the DVX100a.. once completed, the short will never be transferred to film (at least i can't see that ever happening), and will most likely end up being burned to DVD.
the only places the short will probably ever be viewed is when projected on a relatively small theater screen at premier night, and on the computer and/or DVD copies for friends.
now, given this, what settings would you guys recommend i shoot under? i wasn't totally satisfied with 24P last time... i was thinking of going 24 advanced this time, but would you agree? or perhaps 30P? what would be the advantages/disadvantages of shooting 24pAdvanced or 30P? i've read that largely cited technical explanation of DVX100a's shooting modes that everyone links here, but i still can't seem to apply that information to be particular situation.
also, i stiiiiilll can't decide whether to shoot 4:3 and add matte bars in post, or shoot in letterbox, or squeeze. given the probable future viewing conditions..what should i go for?
