HMI Flicker

Hey Gang,
Just wondering if anyone has worked with a 5D under HMI Lamps. When the camera first got the manual controls I did some testing and found out that the HMI flicker causes pretty bad banding across the image at almost all shutter speeds. Has anyone else experienced this, and more importantly has anyone else found a way around it?

I believe the ones I tested with were electronic, as they had the flicker free control on them. Does that make sense?
