Hello!

I'm trying to learn more about HMI ballasts, can anyone tell me what bates are on a ballast and how I can figure out how many amps they are? Thanks so much!​

And since you have to ask the question, you shouldn't touch/buy this light until you educate yourself about lower powered lights.

A bates connector can be swapped for an Edison - if the unit draws a household level of power, usually under 15 or 20 amps.

Many bates-plugged fixtures and ballasts will require much more voltage though.

This isn't really fair. I used a lot of low powered lights for a lot of years and never came across a Bates plug, and there's only one way to learn with HMI and that's by doing. Just start with 1200 watts at most.
